Ghana: Meat pie business powers CEO’s luxury lifestyle as sales hit 500 daily

Ghanaian entrepreneur Gifty Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Cooker’s Delight, has revealed how her food venture has evolved into a highly profitable enterprise—driven largely by strong daily sales of pastries.

Speaking in a viral interview, Brown disclosed that her luxury lifestyle, including the purchase of a high-end vehicle, was financed entirely through proceeds from her meat pie business.

“The pastries are what bought my G-Wagon. It was the meat pie,” she said, highlighting the commercial strength of what is often seen as a simple food product.

According to her, the business has grown significantly over the years, transitioning from small-scale daily production to a high-volume operation serving both individual and corporate clients.

Brown noted that in the early stages, she sold just four to five pies per day. Today, the business produces and sells approximately 500 pieces daily—excluding bulk or special orders.

The company’s growth has been supported by consistent demand, with institutions, banks, and corporate organisations forming a key part of its customer base.

“Most of the banks and companies around buy from my restaurant every day. My place is always packed. Even on Sundays, there’s a queue,” she added.

Her story reflects a broader trend in Ghana’s food sector, where entrepreneurs are increasingly transforming everyday local products into scalable, high-margin businesses through consistency, branding, and market positioning.

As demand for ready-to-eat meals continues to rise, businesses like Cooker’s Delight are demonstrating the untapped potential within the country’s informal food economy—turning simple ideas into thriving enterprises.
