As the world marks International Women’s Day 2026, the career journey of Beatrice Agyemang stands out as one of the most remarkable leadership stories in Ghana’s media industry.
With more than two decades of experience, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General Group has built a reputation for visionary leadership, operational excellence, and innovation across television, radio, and digital media platforms.
Her rise from news anchor to the helm of one of Ghana’s largest media organisations highlights the transformative power of resilience, strategic thinking, and professional dedication.
Early Career in Broadcast Journalism
Agyemang began her media career mastering the fundamentals of broadcast journalism — news reporting, anchoring, news analysis, and current affairs production.
She strengthened her expertise through international training programmes with global media organisations including:
- BBC
- CNN
- Voice of America
- Sky News
These experiences exposed her to global best practices in journalism and broadcasting.
As a major anchor on TV3 Ghana’s flagship Evening News, she covered several high-profile international events including the African Union Summit in Ethiopia and the ECOWAS Summit in Togo.
She also interviewed influential leaders such as former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former Ghanaian Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama.
Rising Through the Ranks
Her leadership journey accelerated in 2013 when she was appointed Managing News Editor at TV3.
In that role, she built a high-performing newsroom team that won numerous local and international awards while strengthening the station’s influence on national discourse.
By 2016, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of TV3, where she led a major organisational restructuring that repositioned the company within Ghana’s competitive media landscape.
Her leadership responsibilities expanded further when she became General Manager of MGTV, overseeing TV3 and Onua TV, while also serving as Head of MG Digital.
Driving Media General’s Expansion
In 2018, Agyemang was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General Group, becoming one of the most influential women in Ghana’s media sector.
Under her leadership, the group expanded its media footprint across multiple platforms, including television, radio, and digital.
She also led the establishment and launch of Onua TV in August 2019 — a major milestone in Media General’s growth strategy.
Today, the group operates a network of stations including:
- 3FM 92.7
- Onua FM 95.1
- Connect FM 97.1
- Akoma FM 87.9
Under her tenure, TV3 has emerged as one of the most watched television channels in Ghana while the group’s digital presence has grown significantly.
