Tech entrepreneur empowers youths with blockchain, Web3 skills

In a bold move to democratize access to digital finance knowledge and foster financial independence among young Nigerians, renowned technology innovator Hanu Fejiro has launched a completely free training programme focused on cryptocurrency, blockchain, and decentralised finance (DeFi).

The initiative, hosted on Telegram, is part of Fejiro’s long-term vision to empower a generation of Africans with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need to succeed in the evolving digital economy.

A Vision Rooted in Empowerment

Fejiro, a firm believer in the transformative power of education and technology, described the initiative as part of his life’s mission to train one million people. “What if the cure for cancer or world hunger is stored in an uneducated mind?” he asked. “We must do all we can to support everyone, both old and young.”

The training programme, launched with a pilot cohort in March 2024 and expanded in February 2025, has already reached over 300 participants, who are scheduled to complete the current round by the end of March 2025.

Hands-On Learning in a Fast-Changing Financial Landscape

The training is designed to be interactive and practical, covering essential topics such as:

  • Crypto and blockchain fundamentals

  • Security and risk management in the digital finance space

  • Practical use cases across industries

  • Real-world applications of DeFi tools

Participants also benefit from live sessions with seasoned industry experts, community discussions, and hands-on assignments that simulate real-world scenarios. Moreover, the program allows participants to earn while they learn, further incentivizing engagement and practical application.

Rising Demand for Web3 Skills

As the global economy embraces Web3 technologies, opportunities in crypto-related fields are rapidly expanding. From blockchain development and crypto marketing to DeFi analytics and NFT project strategy, the training seeks to equip young Nigerians with the skills to fill these emerging roles.

With recent developments such as the rise of Bitcoin ETFs, layer-2 networks like Arbitrum and Base, and increased adoption of stablecoins for cross-border payments, the potential for growth in this space is immense.

Voices from the Programme

Participants have described the training as transformative. Iyanuoluwa shared, “This crypto training has expanded my understanding of digital currencies and blockchain. It has given me the confidence to explore new opportunities in this ever-evolving space.”

Kareem noted, “I’ve learnt effective strategies for identifying upcoming airdrops and staying actively engaged in the ecosystem. This training has been incredibly productive and enriching, exceeding my expectations.”

Godwin echoed similar sentiments, saying, “The training has opened my eyes to potential ways of making money by watching top traders’ wallets, how to verify an airdrop, and how to avoid potential scams.”

Scholarships to AltSchool

Further demonstrating his commitment to digital education, Fejiro announced an upcoming initiative to provide full scholarships to 100 young Nigerians for the AltSchool Diploma course — a program designed to prepare students for careers in technology and emerging industries.

“We believe that with the right knowledge, skills, and tools, we are positioning young Nigerians and Africans to take advantage of emerging trends and lead in the digital revolution,” Fejiro concluded.
