Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, Chief Executive of Telecel Ghana, has been awarded Telecom CEO of the Year and Female CEO of the Year at the 4th Ghana CEO Vision and Awards—a ceremony celebrating exceptional leadership and innovation across various industries in Ghana.
Held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, the event drew stakeholders from over 30 sectors, including technology, banking, logistics, and manufacturing. This year’s theme, “Positioning CEOs as Catalysts for Attracting Investment and Tourism to Ghana”, highlighted how strategic leadership in tech and telecom can serve as a foundation for economic growth.
Recognizing Tech-Driven Leadership
Ing. Obo-Nai received her Female CEO of the Year award from His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse.
In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the honours to her team and customers, reinforcing her commitment to using technology as a tool for impact:
“This award belongs to our cherished customers and the dedicated team at Telecel who work tirelessly each day to connect people and make an impact. Leadership is most meaningful when it improves lives and opens doors for the next generation.”
Under her leadership, Telecel Ghana has strengthened its role in Ghana’s digital ecosystem—expanding network coverage, enhancing service quality, and spearheading initiatives to drive digital inclusion and connectivity for underserved communities.
Tech at the Heart of National Development
The award criteria, developed by Globe Productions in partnership with Graphic Communications Group, focused on strategic vision, innovation, corporate growth, and contribution to Ghana’s development—particularly in sectors with high technology leverage.
Latif Abubakar, CEO of Globe Productions, praised recipients for using digital tools and innovation to boost not just business performance, but Ghana’s tech credibility on the international stage.
“These are CEOs leading the digital transformation of our economy. Their work in telecommunications and ICT is central to Ghana’s attractiveness as a modern, investment-ready destination.”
Public Sector Endorsement of Tech Leadership
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff, emphasized the importance of tech CEOs in shaping Ghana’s digital diplomacy:
“CEOs in the telecom and technology space are no longer just operators—they are architects of national visibility, systems builders, and promoters of investor confidence.”
Echoing that sentiment, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, encouraged private sector tech leaders to support innovation in tourism and creative industries through digital platforms and solutions.
Impact and Future Outlook
Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai’s double recognition underscores her pivotal role in positioning Telecel Ghana as a technology-driven company committed to Ghana’s digital advancement. The telco continues to expand infrastructure, improve mobile broadband access, and lead initiatives that close the digital divide.
“We are focused on connectivity that goes beyond voice and data,” she noted. “Our mission is to create real, lasting impact in the communities we serve through technology.”
The recognition of Patricia Obo-Nai as both Telecom CEO and Female CEO of the Year cements her status as a key player in Ghana’s tech-driven development.
